Toole, Willard Allison – 96
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Willard Allison Toole of Bible Hill at the Shiretown Nursing Home, Pictou with family by his side on Friday, April 1, 2022. Born in Leicester on March 28, 1926, he was the son of the late Nita (Carter) and Percy Toole.
Willard went to work in his father’s sawmill at the age of 13 and worked many years in various mills and later as a millwright. He worked at Crossley Carpets for a number of years and retired in 1991. Willard was skilled at many trades and always willing to lend a hand. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking projects and home renovations. He loved to share his stories about his experiences growing up on the farm and his early years in the sawmill. He will be remembered for his love of family, friends and his strong faith.
Willard is lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his son, Kevin (Cathy) Toole, Maple Grove and daughter, Linda MacDonald, Moncton. He was a special grandfather to Andrew (Darla) Toole, Christopher (Marilou) Toole, Alyson (Lauchie) MacLean, Anne (Dwayne) Williston, Amy MacDonald, Jeff (Melanie) MacDonald, Darrell (Julie) MacDonald, Colleen (Mike) Bell and 26 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Also, survived by sister, Dollie Ferguson; brother, Earle (Fran) Toole and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Violet (Pierce); son, Melvin Toole; son-in law, Mark MacDonald; granddaughter, Susie MacDonald; sisters, Janie (in infancy), Sadie Pierce, Miriam Hazelwood and brothers, Merle, Hubert, Ross, Albert, Gordon, Alton.
A time of visitation will be held on Monday, April 4 from 6-8 p.m. with a funeral service on Tuesday, April 5 at 2 p.m. both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro, Mr. Charles O’Regan and Miss. Diane Anderson officiating. Live webcasting of the service will begin at 1:58 p.m. (AST). Donations in Willard’s memory may be made to the VON or the charity of your choice.
