Wilfred Leo Miller – 84, Great Village, passed away
peacefully on Monday, August 22, 2022, at Colchester East Hants Health
Centre, Truro. Born in Londonderry, he was the son of the late Harold
“Pat” and Mary Ellen (Fountain) Miller.
He will be remembered as a person who enjoyed quiet times
with family, tinkering with his woodpile and working outside with his
garden and blueberries. As a young man, Wilfred worked at Citadel
Motors, Halifax and Goodspeeds Ltd., Truro. He also worked for
contractor Royce Totten, Debert, before taking a position with
Department of Natural Resources where he remained until
retirement.
Wilfred served as a member of both the Session and Trustees
of Great Village United Church and was a long-time member of North
Star Lodge #74, Londonderry and Great Village Garden
Club.
Wilfred is survived by his wife of 58 years, Fronz (Spencer)
Miller; son, Scott Miller (Mindy), Great Village; daughter, Patti
Miller (Les Brown), Truro; proud grandfather of Laura Sharpe (Brandon
Schwarz), April Sharpe and Erin Miller. Wilfred is also survived by
his sisters, Elaine MacKinnon (Jim – deceased), Shirley Cooke (Doug)
and Audrey Spencer (Logan); brother, Glenn Miller (Dennise). Along
with his parents, he was predeceased by an infant daughter and his
sister, Fern Hegan (Art).
A special thank you is extended to the staff in the Stroke
Unit, ICU and Palliative Care Unit of Colchester East Hants Health
Centre.
Graveside service will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, August 27,
2022, at Mahon Cemetery, 8480 Highway 2, Great Village. In lieu of
flowers, donations in Wilfred’s memory to Heart and Stroke
Foundation, Colchester-East Hants Health Centre or Great Village
& District Volunteer Fire Brigade are welcomed.
