SPENCER, WESLEY ERNEST – Bay Roberts
July 15, 1936 – October 6, 2022. It is with profound sadness and many treasured memories that we announce the death of Wesley (Wes) Spencer, a devoted husband and cherished Dad and Gramps, who passed away in peace after a brief illness at the age of 86.
He is predeceased by a number of family members, most memorably his parents, Ernest and Elizabeth and his beloved son, Donald (Don). He is survived by Berdena, his wife of almost 65 years. Left to mourn with the heaviest of hearts are his daughters Renee (Richard) Porter and Kimberly Spencer; daughter-in-law, Jackie Spencer and grandchildren Emily Porter, Stephanie Spencer (Jeff Cook), Kaitlyn Porter and Ben Porter (Kelsey Chisholm), as well as his great-grandson, Weston Spencer, a source of great joy and entertainment for his Grampy!
Also left behind with cherished memories are his sister Ida (Guy) Decker, whom he loved dearly and shared much laughter with over the years, as well as a broader circle of family and friends.
Wes was a man of strong moral fibre who always espoused the importance of fairness, doing the right thing and living up to your responsibilities. To his children and grandchildren, he was a trusted advisor and a sound guiding hand. He made us feel loved and secure but never hesitated to tell us a few home truths or give out a bit of tough love when we needed it. He had our backs, 100-percent, and reveled in all our achievements.
While he will be missed every day, he will never leave our hearts. We take great comfort in knowing that he is now reunited with Don and that the two of them are probably laughing over a game of crib and talking shop.
By request, there will be no visitation. A private family service will be held at a later date. Donations in his memory can be made to VOWR 800AM or The H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Foundation. Messages of condolence can be left on the Memory Wall section of the obituary.
