Obituary
It is with profound sadness that the family of Wendell Douglas Irven MacCormack announce his passing, which occurred peacefully on Friday, September 24th, 2021 at his daughter’s home in Quispamsis, NB. surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Black Point on August 16th, 1948, he was the son of the late Sadie and Herbert MacCormack.
Wendell was employed by the Brunswick Smelter as an industrial mechanic for 33 years, where he served as Union President of United Steelworkers of America – Local 7085 for fifteen years and later as Health and Safety Officer.
Wendell’s passion was his family and spending time working outdoors on his wood lot. He was a Jack of all Trades and always had a project on the go. Marilyn and Wendell loved to host celebrations and made many special memories with family and friends at their home in Black Point. Wendell adored his daughter Stacie and could often be found spending time with her and his cherished grandchildren, bringing them for rides on his tractor or four-wheeler. He always took the time to be present with loved ones, sitting with them when he was needed, building the toys they could not and teaching them new things. Wendell will be forever remembered for his kindness, wit, and his ability to make us laugh. He will be missed beyond measure.
Wendell is survived by his loving wife Marilyn, his daughter Stacie (Matthew) Culligan and his beloved grandchildren Alexander, Rhea and William. He also leaves behind sisters Charlene MacCormack (Glen Tucker), Aloma MacCormack and Heather (Paul) McCully; stepsiblings Sharon (David) Smythe, Marilyn (late Neil) Morris, and Gary (Jan) Cook as well as his wife’s extended family, his aunt Patsy McCurdy, nieces and nephews and many friends and relatives from the community.
The family would like to sincerely thank the NB extramural team for their compassionate care as well as special friends Howard Carter and Jeanette Perron for their kindness and friendship over the years.
His funeral will be held at the MacMillan Drapeau Funeral Chapel on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at 2 PM. Funeral arrangements are in the care of Macmillan’s Funeral Home in Black Point, NB. For those who wish, remembrances to the New Mills Cemetery would be appreciated.
