Obituary of Wayne Stewart
It is with sadness that we, the family of Wayne Stewart, announce his passing at Hospice in Fredericton on September 4, 2022. Born in Bath, NB in April 1947, husband of Patty Stewart (Gerrard), Wayne leaves behind daughter Heidi Stewart, grandson Trey Stewart and sister Carolyn Green (Stewart).
Wayne is predeceased by his parents Guy and Clara Stewart, his brothers Bill Stewart and Harry Stewart, and sister Juanita McAuley (Stewart).
Wayne worked for the City of Fredericton in the property management department for 25 years, a carpenter by trade he was a jack of all trades and loved the challenges that brought.
A vacation for Wayne was getting out in the woods for hunting or enjoying nature and falling trees for his winters wood. Another passion of Wayne’s was his vegetable garden, with the planting and tending it as it produced for his and other families.
As Dad, he was always there helping his daughter Heidi with his many skills. Wayne also enjoyed being a mentor to grandson Trey who he trained in his handyman skills.
There will be no visitation; a Celebration of Love and Life of Wayne Stewart will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Friday, September 9, 2022 at 2 pm with Pastor Rick Doige officiating. Interment will take place in St. Barnabas Church Cemetery, Greenfield, NB at a later date. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
