Obituary of Wanda Mertes
MERTES, Wanda – Our lives have suddenly changed forever. It is with profound sadness that the family of Wanda Mertes announces her passing on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at the age 57, after a short battle with cancer.
Left to grieve her loss is her husband of 25 years, John Mertes and their son Sean. Daughter of the late Violet and John Andraka, daughter-in-law of the late Millie and Jack Mertes. Sister of Chester Andraka (Janine); and sister-in-law of Judy Miller (Herb); Jim Mertes (Lynda); Liz Summers (Doug).
Aunt to Jackson, Jake (Paige), Jude (Julia), DJ and Nathan (Rachel), Mitch (Shelby), Matt and Sam (Jake). Great Aunt to Mitch and Shelby’s little man Grayson. Wanda will be fondly remembered by her friends and the many people she worked with throughout her career as a Psychological Associate and the PACT Coordinator (Program for Assertive Community
Treatment) for the Sault Area Hospital. Family and Friends meant the world to Wanda, and she would go above and beyond to help anyone in need. Our world will be less bright without her smile and giving heart.
In keeping with Wanda’s wishes, cremation has occurred. A private family gathering will take place. In lieu of flowers, we would appreciate a donation to Health Science North ICU, Sault Area Hospital Mental Health and Addiction services. Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Road, 705-945-7758).
In memory of Wanda, please hug a loved one and remember one of her favorite sayings-
Every time a bell rings an Angel gets their wings.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Wanda
