With saddened hearts we announce the passing of our beloved mother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, mama Gray, nana, and ma, Wanda Jean Gray on August 29, 2022, at St. Joseph’s Hospice, at the age of 64. Beloved wife of the late Errnol Gray (2018). Loving mother of Wayne Charles Simpson (Candice), Andrew Nolan George (Deanna), Mason William George, Anthony Gray, David Gray, and Diana Gray. Treasured grandmother of Kayden, Alex, Taylor, Cayley, Madison, Willow, Nolan, and Makayla. Loving sister of Annette George (the late Ron), Audrey Jacobs, William (Will) Jacobs, and the late Brian “Jake” Jacobs (Kathy). Cherished niece of Betty Bressette, Aaron Rogers, and Joanne Rogers. Survived by many loving nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. Predeceased by her parents Melvin (1977) and Marlene (1966) Jacobs. Wanda will be remembered as a great cook and talented pie maker. She warmly welcomed everyone into her home and heart. Wanda generously prepared meals for all who stopped by, you never left her home with an empty stomach. A special thank you to the staff at Bluewater Health in the Palliative Care department as well as the staff at St. Joseph’s Hospice for their care and compassion for Wanda during her stay. Thank you also to all of the friends and family that provided endless support during Wanda’s illness. Family and friends will be received at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Thursday, September 1, 2022 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Friday, September 2, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. with visitation held one hour prior from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow in Aamjiwnaang Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, sympathy may be expressed through donations to St. Joseph’s Hospice or the Aamjiwnaang Youth Council (cheques only at the funeral home please).
