WALTON Linda 1945 2022

WALTON, Linda
1945 – 2022
It is with great sadness to announce the death of Linda Walton on July 21 st , 2022 at the age of 77 at the Timmins Hospital. Linda was born to Ernie and Betty (Hammond) Walton on June 24 th , 1945 in New Liskeard, Ontario. In addition to being a beloved daughter, Linda was a mother, a grandmother, a sister, a niece, and a cousin to many.
She spent her childhood and youth in the tri-town area. She also lived in southern Ontario, British Columbia, and Nova Scotia. Linda had many dreams, one being to return to Kelowna, BC and live out her senior years enjoying the natural beauty of the area and spending time with her dear friends.
Linda will be missed by her Englehart friends—and her house family at 30 9 th Avenue. Many will miss seeing Linda sitting out on her patio. She always took the time to greet those walking by. And if they happened to have a dog, well, that’s when her curiosity was piqued and conversations followed. Linda tied colourful ribbons out front of her home on a pine tree to represent the most current cause that needed support.
Linda was a vivacious woman. She was a dancer in her youth and middle age yearsand belonged to a local dance club in New Liskeard. She enjoyed and was really great at jive, and jitter bug and many other styles of dancing also. Gentlemen waited, with sheer enthusiasm, for their turn to have such a talented dance partner to glide across the dancefloor with. Linda tuned in to the ‘Sunday Morning Oldies’. This brought her such joy! She was also an avid reader of novels especially the intriguing type with a lot of suspense. She made regular trips to the local library. And often shared books with others.
Linda embraced her femininity in many ways. Her favorite colour was purple. She loved all shades of it and incorporated them into her home décor, clothing, accessories, and had fun streaking her hair with a touch of colour along her bangs. She wore girly baseball caps with just the right amount of bling! She enjoyed pampering herself with
manicures and stylish haircuts. Linda was a happy shopper and had an amazing sense of style in whatever she was purchasing.
Linda was a dog lover and adopted many over the years, most recent was Angus, a small Terrier. She adored him and he went everywhere she went. He was named after lead guitarist of hard rock band AC/DC. She also loved cats, Willie Nelson Junior being most recent. She thought he was quite the character. When Linda walked Angus, Willie
would follow behind. It was quite amusing to see. She was an advocate of pet rescue and would help in any way she could. She showed great concern for neglected dogs, cats, and horses.
Linda had a great sense of humour and had a most heartful laugh with the biggest smile along with it. A delight to see!
She was very creative and quite skilled at writing, painting, interior decorating, sewing, crocheting, knitting, cooking, and gardening. Some of her favourite flowers were pansies, poppies, and cosmos. Linda knew sign language because her father was deaf.
Linda held a variety of jobs. She worked in Barrie, Ontario where she sold time shares. She won an award for selling the most properties within a six-month period. When she lived in Nelson, BC, she worked at a community college where she taught a course for women which included: returning to the workforce, self-esteem building, and women’s public speaking. She was an advocate for abused women. In Nova Scotia she had a small pet food store and also delivered mail.
Linda was a glamourous woman who aged gracefully and touched the hearts of many and will be sorely missed.
A big thank you goes out to the Englehart Hospital doctors, nurses, and all support staff who cared for Linda during her stay. She also received excellent care during her short stay at the Timmins Hospital.
Cremation has followed.
Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation and/or a local animal rescue shelter will be greatly appreciated.
