Hillevi Walters passed away into the arms of her Heavenly Father after a three year courageous battle with cancer. She passed peacefully at Pilgrims Hospice Society on Monday December 19, 2022.
Ida Marion Hillevi Ost was born on February 2, 1934 in Ocean Falls, British Columbia. At age 17 Hillevi ventured from Ocean Falls to Edmonton where she met and married the love of her life, Gerry Walters, on April 12,1957.
Hillevi’s love language truly was the gift of hospitality. She was known for so many wonderful traditions that will live on in our family forever.
Hillevi had a strong faith in the Lord and strong devotion to her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She was known as mom, nana, grammie, sister, auntie, and wonderful friend to anyone who was fortunate enough to know her. She will be greatly missed.
Hillevi is survived by her husband Gerry, her children – Cam (Brenda) , Gerilyne (Dwight), and Jodi (Cary), her grandchildren – Kerstie (Bryan) Whitney (Owen) Christopher (Kristy) Cody, Brooklyne, Nicholas, Ty (Danielle ), Mitchell, Kyra, Anthony, Travis ,and Abigail (In order oldest to Youngest) – Great grandchildren- Lincoln, Braylon, Adeline , Rosie, Ruby, Ella, and Barrett. She is also survived by her older sister Lilly Lewis.
Hillevi’s celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at 1:30 pm. Saints Church Glastonbury, formerly known as West Edmonton Christian Assembly – 6315 -199 Street NW Edmonton.
In lieu of flowers, Hillevi’s family requests that donations be made to Pilgrims Hospice Society, 9808-148 Street NW Edmonton, Alberta T5N 3E8, where Hillevi spent the last three months of her life receiving the very best end of life care.
