Obituary
With appreciation of a life well lived we announce that on June 21, 2022, Eugene (Walter) Hamilton, surrounded by his nurturing family, including the love of his life was called home to be with the Lord.
Born in Lansdowne, NB on January 15th, 1935, he was the son of the late Elmer and Martha (Parish) Hamilton. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Russell, Cecil, Charlie, John, Enoch, Ira, Alice, Philip, Anna, Inez and beloved son, Donald (Donny) Hamilton.
Walter resided in Avondale, New Brunswick with his devoted wife, June (Rutherford) of 65 years. Walter expressed daily, the love and gratitude he had for his soulmate June. His family and friends witnessed the truest testimony of marriage and devotion through their affection and care for one another.
In addition to his faithful wife, June, he is survived by his loving children, Elwin Hamilton (Cindy Milner), Kenny Hamilton (Wanda), Patti Nicholson (Jody) and daughter in-law, Ferne Hamilton. Cherished Grandchildren; Holly Green (Jason), Elwin Jr. Hamilton (Tara), Savanah Fredericks (Corey), Shawn Hamilton (Chelsey), Alysa McAllister (A.J), Josh Hamilton (Casey Gaunce) and treasured Great-Grandchildren, Allie, Chloe and Carter Green, Lucas and Brody Hamilton, Jack, Denver and Max Fredericks, Cali-Rae and Shae-Lynn Hamilton, Addison and Aurora McAllister and Florence Hamilton and his sisters Doris Laskey and Irene Bradley. Many special nieces and nephews.
Walter will always be remembered by his grandchildren and great grandchildren for the love and kindness he instilled in their hearts. For the pride he expressed in them all. The gentle touch of his hand and tears of happiness you could find in his eyes. There were no limitations for the love Walter expressed and his love will be forever felt amongst his family and everyone that was blessed enough to know him.
Walter had been saved by grace when he gave his heart to the Lord in April of 1989 and was an active member within his church. He was known for leading with his heart felt prayers at various gatherings.
Walter drove truck with his incredible wife June by his side and sons for many years. He made so many wonderful lifelong friendships, that after retirement he continued to meet up with many for coffee at Tim’s, reminiscing of their times they shared.
Walter enjoyed life to the fullest. Some of Walter’s past times were being outdoors, campfires, snowmobiling, four-wheeling, gardening, camping, listening to music, travelling, dancing, whistling, and playing cards.
More than anything Walter enjoyed making memories with his family, taking his family on sleigh rides, going to their family camp, tinkering in the garage, watching the birds, making pancakes with his great grandchildren, sneaking in kisses from June and riding his golf cart. One of his last most cherished moments was meeting his 13th Great Grandchild, Florence June Hamilton over FaceTime.
Public visitations will be held at the Carleton Funeral Home Chapel, 337 Lockhart Mill Road Jacksonville, NB on Sunday June 26th, 2022, from 1-3pm. The Funeral Service will be held at 3PM with interment to follow at Avondale Cemetery.
In Lieu of flowers the family has requested donations in Walter’s memory be made to the Avondale Cemetery Fund.
