Walter Gues Gattinger CD 2022

After a lengthy battle with cancer, Walter passed away peacefully in Victoria on October 29, 2022. Born in Killam, AB on February 20, 1936 he is survived by his wife, Alexandra; daughter, Lucy Arfinson (Paul); son, Stephen (Debbie); sister, Irene Engel (Richard); grandsons, Nicholas Beach (Stacey) and Brett Gattinger; granddaughter, Christy Gohn (Matt); great granddaughters, Sophia Beach, Emma and Lily Gohn; great grandson, Gaelin Gohn; many stepchildren and great grandchildren of three previous marriages.
Walter was predeceased by his mother and father, Emma and Gues; brothers, Raymond and Clarence; his wives, Jacqueline and Victoria.
On completing high school, he joined the Canadian Armed Forces serving in the RCAF and Canadian Army. Walter served in Canada and overseas and was awarded the United Nations Medal for Cyprus, The Canadian Forces Peacekeeping Medal and the Canadian Forces Decoration for his service in Canada.
In civil life after his military service, Walter entered the floor covering industry doing business in Calgary, Las Vegas, Edmonton, Vancouver and Victoria where he retired in 2002.
