It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Wally Floris at the age of 87 years. He is survived by Grace (Gerty) his loving wife of 59 years, his 4 children and their spouses, 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Wally was born in the little town of De Wilp, in the province of Groningen, the Netherlands on October 28, 1934. He was the third of four children.
In 1957, Wally immigrated to Canada with his widowed mother to join his two siblings and settled in Vancouver, BC.
He was always interested in construction and after he and his business partner of Floris-Jonkman Construction went on their own, Floris Construction Ltd. was formed, specializing in institutional additions and renovations.
Soon after retirement, Wally was diagnosed with a serious heart condition and told he didn’t have long to live. God directed him to amazing medical professionals and graciously allowed him to live for another 25 years. These years were not without their challenges, but he faced them with an unwavering attitude of thankfulness and deep gratitude for the amazing, selfless care from his dear wife.
Over the years Wally was very active in both the church and Christian school. His gentle nature, steady faith and humble wisdom were qualities that earned him the respect of all those who knew him. More than anything, Wally loved His Lord and Savior and knowing that he is with Him now is a great comfort to us all.
Wally is pre-deceased by his parents Johannes and Trijntje, brother Jitse, sister Patsy, granddaughter Hannah and grandson- in- law Darryl.
A memorial service is planned for 2pm on Thursday, April 21 at Emmanuel Free Reformed Church (3366 Mt Lehman Rd) with Pastor J. Schoeman officiating. Refreshments will be served following the service, and all are welcome.

Death notice for the town of: Aldergrove, Province: Colombie britanique
Along with Mr Mulder, Wally Floris was a friend who helped me , and continued to help me, even when most abandoned …. Of course , when people die ,good things are spoken…But in Mr Floris it is true… He walked the talk. He loved Jesus more than anything…and he wanted others to as well. Even though he was not a good driver…. many a time he brought Albert de Vries to the ferry from the courthouse…. Why? Only so that he could tell him about JESUS…. Acts 4 verse 12…. Sincerely, Paul Houweling,. J.O.Y.
