Wallace married Brenda on June 19, 1976 and together they raised their two children, Fern and Jamie at their home in Red Harbour. He started working at a young age at the fish plant in Burin. When that closed, he transferred to the plant in Marystown. When the cod fishery closed, he decided to go back to school to pursue an education in the trades. With determination and drive, he successfully became a Journeyperson Welder and joined the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers in Edmonton where he worked until his retirement five years ago. An exceptionally hard worker, he sacrificed much time away from his family to ensure that they were well provided for and that they lacked for nothing. His proudest accomplishments were his children, and in the past 13 years, his grandchildren.
He gave back to his town and church by serving on the town council and church boards over the years. He was always eager to lend a hand where needed and was kind to all he met.
He loved the outdoors and early mornings and spent most of his waking hours outside, whether in the woods, working round the yard and garage, salmon fishing, moose hunting or just talking to people. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Wesley United Church, Red Harbour.
