With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Julie Waldron (nee Pewarchuk) February 11, 2022 at the age of 90.
Julie is lovingly remembered by her four children Wayne Waldron, Cheryl Ferguson (Dave), Shayne Waldron and Candace Waldron. Her memory will be cherished by her grandchildren Kathryn, Kimberley and Pamela Ferguson, Clayborn and Rebecca Waldron and Nicki (Adam) Paseika and great grandchildren Haley Ferguson and Finnick and Prairie Paseika. Julie was predeceased by her husband Ronald Waldron in January of 2013.
Julie & Ron raised their family in Sherwood Park, and were able to travel in 1974 when Ron got an overseas job. They lived in various parts of the US as well as India, Indonesia and Malaysia. When they moved back to Edmonton in 1983, they enjoyed spending time with their children, grandchildren and greatgrandchild. Julie loved to cook and bake, and was extremely talented in this regard, as anyone who tasted her Easter Paska, relish, beet pickles or chiffon cakes and cinnamon buns can attest to, as well as County Fair trophies to back our claims.
When widowed, Julie continued to travel with family and enjoyed cruises to Hawaii and the Caribbean as well as trips to Nova Scotia and PEI to enjoy the PEI Fall Flavours Festival. She welcomed two more greatgrandchildren with joy and marveled at each milestone, and loved her role as matriarch.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held on July 31 2022 (this would have been Julie and Ron’s 68th wedding anniversary)
Sincere thanks to Dr. Falade, her primary care physician and to the Misericordia and Royal Alexandra Hospitals where she recovered from breaking her leg (June 28-October 28 2021). The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to the Lamont Health Care Center staff for the kindness and care shown to Julie during her stay in the Nursing Home, when she took up residence there in October. She was close to family and friends, saw relatives on a daily basis and became a “bingo maniac”, enjoying the opportunity to broaden her social sphere which had been so sadly limited during the isolation required for safety during Covid times.
Julie was a giving and caring person throughout her life, and donated to many worthy causes over the years.
Memorial donations may be made to the Lamont Health Care Center or to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the charity of your choice.
