Vivian Mary Martin Sunday October 9th 2022

Vivian Mary Martin (nee Letson)
Vivian was born on March 4, 1926 in Conestoga, Ontario and passed away October 9, 2022 at age 96. She graduated from Toronto General School of Nursing in 1948. In 1950 she married Gustave Otto Martin. They lived initially in Bobcaygeon, then in 1965 the family moved to Scarborough. After Gus passed away in 1972, she worked as a Registered Nurse in a Pickering Nursing Home until she retired in 1991. She loved her 5 children intensely and was dedicated to raising them and helping them above all else.
She continued lifelong friendships with several of her nursing school friends and attended many school alumnae get-togethers until well into her ‘80s. Vivian enjoyed curling, bridge, gardening, and knitting. Her hand knit sweaters, mittens, blankets and crocheted hand towels were always in demand. She was a lifelong Leafs, Raptors and Blue Jays fan.
She was predeceased by son, Allan Martin (2015), sister Shirley Jean Gellner; survived by daughters Mary Jean Martin, JoAnne Witton (Ron), Jennifer Daigle (Mike), son, Michael Martin, daughter-in-law Kim Kelly (Allan), 9 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.
She will be buried in Tavistock, Ont. beside her husband, Gus. We encourage people to donate their time or money to increase the quality of life for the elderly, or towards hospice care.
