It is with deep sadness that we, the family, announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, wife, sister, aunt and friend, Virginia Chezenko on Thursday, August 18, 2022, at the Northside Community Guest Home, North Sydney.
Born May 3, 1931, she was the daughter of Bert and Margaret Cossitt.
Mom grew up on Herbert St. in Sydney, the fifth of eight children. Raised and nurtured in a loving home, she was a sweet soul who adored her family. Although quiet in nature, she possessed a wonderful sense of humor and sense of fun. She had a heart of gold and her smile and giggle will be missed dearly by all who were blessed to have known her.
She met ” her Freddie “, while working as an usher at the Vogue Theater. They married and she became a mom to four children. She was a stay-at- home mom and taught us to trust in God and in ourselves, and that being part of a loving family was the best gift one could have.
She is survived by and will be greatly missed by her children, Fred, Kim (Brian), Shawn (Carrie) and Brent (Lisa) and by her four grandsons, Rick, Griffyn, Cody and Graidy. She is also survived by her sisters, Sarah MacLean, Marina Anderson, Louise MacLennan and Myrtle Matheson (Allan) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Fred; sister, Alta Vaughn; and brothers, Gus, George and Eion Cossitt.
The last several years mom resided at the Northside Community Guest Home. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff and management for the wonderful care mom received.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Sydney Memorial Chapel. There will be a private family graveside service. Interment will take place in Forest Haven Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Northside Community Guest Home.
