Violet Wilhemina (Reid) Griffiths
1928-2021
Violet Wilhemina (Reid) Griffiths –
93, of Canaan, passed away at her daughter’s home in Windsor
on Thursday, December 30, 2021, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born in New Ross, she was a daughter of the late Brenton and Mary
(Hiltz) Reid.
Violet left us with amazing, loving, and funny
memories. She will be sadly missed but joyfully remembered by many.
Her family and community meant everything to her. She had the gift of
hospitality and her home and heart were open to everybody; making
anyone and everyone feel welcome. The grandchildren loved gathering
there to eat their favorite pie, raisin bread and cheese, and
consuming bottles of dill beans. Vi loved “having”
and feeding a full house. Her love for children was so thoroughly
expressed to her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great
great-grandchildren and any other child that stopped by. Violet loved
and supported any and all Canaan community activities; including teas,
card games, Harvest Auction and Canaan fun
days.
Violet will be deeply missed by her children;
Nancy (Frank) Bezanson, Robin Griffiths (Gail Harrington), Deborah
(Joseph) Griffiths-Cuffari, Timothy (Karen) Griffiths and Peter (Dale)
Griffiths; grandchildren, Cindy Ellis
(Mike) and their children, Heath, Emily, Samantha and Melissa; Sherri
Bezanson (Brian Mackintosh) and their children, Callie and Kieran;
Tara-Lee Steadman-Griffiths (Adam) and their children, Hannah and
Jessica Griffiths-Vidito and her children Heidi and Myles; Ryan
Griffiths (Krissy) and their children, Lorne and Robert; Jacqueline
Scantland-Griffiths and her daughter, Faith Violet Blanchard; Emilie
Oake (Andrew) and their daughters Ella and Everly; Zachary
Scantland-Griffiths; Nichole Vlahos (George) and their children,
Gabriel, Anastasios and Thea; Alisha Griffiths and her children,
Addison and Hayden; Adam Griffiths (Kyla) and their children, Madelyn,
Abigail, John and Lucas; Nadia Griffiths (Jeremy MacEachern) and their
son, Jace; her sister, Adelaide “Addie” Chase; as
well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended
family.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased
by her beloved husband of 68 years, John Griffiths; brothers, Harry,
