Obituary of Viola May Barnwell
BARNWELL: Viola May (nee Hainer) –
A resident of Chatham and formerly of Tilbury and Blenheim, Viola Barnwell passed away at Meadow Park Longterm Care Home with family by her side on Sunday, December 11, 2022 at the age of 96.
Born in Uren, Saskatchewan, Viola was the daughter of the late James and Maud (Ryckman) Hainer.
Beloved wife of the late Robert George Barnwell (2001).
Loving and cherished mother of Ruth Carson (late Bert, 2021), Diane Lodewegen (William) and Robert Barnwell (Celine).
Proud Grandma of Susan Carson (Murray), Janet Adriaensen (Gary); Mark Lodewegen (Aimee), Ryan Lodewegen, Joel Lodewegen (Lauren); Jason Barnwell (Angie), Cheryl Ann Barnwell, Jeremy Barnwell (Tressy), Tara Spears (Joe), the late Ryan DeVos, Jennifer DeVos (Jerry) and Kyle Barnwell.
Great-Grandma to 28 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.
Predeceased by her sister Arleen Seibel (late Wilf).
Sister-in-law to the late Allen and Bill Barnwell.
Viola was a very loving, outgoing person who went out of her way to make somebody smile. She loved singing and playing the piano. In Saskatchewan, she rode her horse to school, something she spoke of often. She loved all animals, particularly her pets which she cherished over the years.
Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 from 6:00 – 8:00pm. A Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home at 1:30pm on Thursday, December 15, 2022. Burial to follow at Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham.
Donations made in memory of Viola to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
