Viola Flynn
– 77, of Valley passed away with her daughter by her side on
Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at the NHI, QEII Health Sciences Centre. Born in
Lourdes, Newfoundland, she was a daughter of the late Patrick and
Monica (Emberley) Meaney.
Viola married
Robert Flynn in 1963 at Lourdes, Newfoundland. She moved with her
husband to Quebec then Ontario before returning to Newfoundland where
she settled.
In 2022, Viola moved to Nova
Scotia to live with her daughter and was delighted with her new home
in Valley. She loved the quiet neighbourhood and watching deer graze
in the backyard. She was looking forward to meeting the new people in
her community and reconnecting with her Nova Scotia family and
friends.
Viola was a devoted and loving
mother who freely shared her wisdom and strong faith when called upon.
She had a wonderful sense of humour and loved to laugh. She liked to
play cards and enjoyed a life-long passion for quilting.
Viola is survived by her loving daughter, Janice Flynn;
sister, Bernice (Howard) Flynn, Alberta; like-a-sister Monica Snook,
Newfoundland; sisters-in-law, Marie Meaney, Nova Scotia; Joanne Flynn,
Newfoundland; Betty (Mike) Shive, Michigan; and as well as a large
circle of nieces, nephews, and friends.
She
was predeceased by her husband, Robert Flynn; brothers, Patrick Jr.
(Helen) Meaney; Lawrence (Alice) Meaney; Louis Meaney; James Hackett;
sisters, Ellen (Aloysius) Drake; Theresa (Alvis) Nazworth; Theresa
Meaney; and Margaret (Jervis) Flynn.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner
Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Viola’s family
will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, June 14, 2022.
Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at Immaculate
Conception Roman Catholic Church, Father Andrew Rembarczyk
officiating. Interment will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, June 16, 2022 in
Immaculate Conception Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be
made to Diabetes Canada.
