Verna Jean Knowles McPhee May 5 1943 May 30 2022 (age 79)

Obituary
Unexpectedly and surrounded by her family, Verna slipped peacefully into the presence of her Lord on Monday, May 30th, 2022 at the Regina General Hospital.
Verna was born on May 5th, 1943 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She accepted the Lord Jesus as her personal Saviour as a young girl. She was in fellowship with the believers at West End Gospel Hall as a teenager, where she met the love of her life, David McPhee. They were married on September 29th, 1967 and together, built a very happy and loving home for their two daughters, Julie and Sherilyn, their extended family and their many friends. Verna was a very loving wife, mother, Granny, G. G. (Great Granny), daughter, sister and a true friend. She was an avid storyteller, and loved entertaining in her home.
She began her career straight out of high school working for the Child Guidance Clinic in Winnipeg. Once her girls were in school, she returned to work as a secretary at Greenway School until she retired in 1999. The highlight of her many years at Greenway was connecting with the many students that came through her office.
Her pride and joy were her seven grandsons – Morgan, Carter and Caeden Macfarlane and Peter, Jared, Aaron and Jonathan Thiessen. She recently enjoyed welcoming two grand daughters-in-law, Aaron’s wife, Nicole, and Morgan’s wife, Amanda and was delighted to become a Great Granny to David, Easton and Oakley.
Verna had a special love for young people and was affectionately known as “Granny” by all those she interacted with.
A bonafide city girl, Verna spent the last few years of her life thoroughly enjoying the wide-open spaces and sense of community found only in rural Manitoba and small-town Saskatchewan.
Verna was pre-deceased by her husband, David, her parents, Bill and Doris Knowles and her in-laws, Peter and Elizabeth McPhee. She is survived by her daughters Julie (Garry) and Sherilyn (Norman), her grandchildren, great grandchildren, three sisters, Shirley (Wayne), Donna (Bob) and Ruthie (Jack), sisters-in-law, Betty (Jimmy) and May, brothers-in-law John and Peter (Sue) and her many nieces and nephews.
The Funeral will be held at River Road Gospel Hall, 350 River Road, Portage la Prairie, MB on Wednesday June 8th, 2022 @ 11AM with a reception to follow.
