Obituary of Verlie Marion Hooper
HOOPER , Verlie Marion – 80 years old, of Lantz, passed away peacefully at the QEII Infirmary Site, Halifax, on March 21, 2022. Born in Shelburne, she was a daughter of the late John and Gladys (Warnell) Holder.
She was an office manager for several companies over the years; she made and kept friends wherever she went. In her retirement years she looked after her autistic grandchild Josh. She was strong, kind and giving and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her children, Michele Hooper, Elmsdale; and Brian (Anne) Hooper, Hammonds Plains; grandchildren, Josh and Ben Hooper; sisters, Juanita (Anton) Los, Dartmouth; Linda Perry, Jordan Falls; sisters-in-law, Beryl Holder, Nine Mile River; and Rose Holder, Timberlea; step-sister, Harriet Cochrane, Scotch Village and step-brother, Robert (Nancy) Bradley, Sackville; many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Douglas Hooper; her brothers, John and Tom Holder; and her stepmother, Hilda Levy.
Cremation has taken place. An informal celebration of life gathering will be held 1-4pm, Sunday, March 27, 2022 in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie. Face masks are suggested but not required.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Autism Nova Scotia, Bedford Sackville Chapter.
