Obituary of Vera Orla May Northrup
It is with sadness that the family of Vera Orla May Northrup announce her passing, which occurred on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Barnesville, NB, on October 27, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Ruel and Annabelle (Verner) Totten and wife of the late Thomas Northrup.
Vera was a longstanding member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Barnesville, and spent many visits at their retreat in Pugwash. She and her sister Elma spent many hours making quilts for newborns in the community, and for anyone in need. Grandchildren were the light of her life. She loved all things nature, was an avid hunter in her younger years, and always had a yard full of bright flowers and veggies growing. Vera’s passion for bird watching filled her heart with joy.
Vera is survived by her son Timothy (Kim) Northrup of Upham, NB; daughter Tammy (Ivan) Nash of Barnesville, NB; grandchildren: Misty (Derek), Jody (Tommy), Stephanie (Simon), Taylor, Tom, Brian, Paula (Steven), Joanne, Evans (Anne); daughters-in-law: Molly and Delores; eighteen great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; sister Lois (Stanley); as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband Thomas, Vera was predeceased by her sons, Harry and Paul; brothers: Lorne, Cecil, Roy, Leonard, Norman, and sister Elma Cook.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB. A public visitation will be held from Sherwood’s Funeral Home on Sunday, October 30, 2022 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8. Funeral service will be held on Monday, October 31, 2022 at 1:00 from Barnesville Seventh Day Adventist Church.
