Obituary
Vera Elizabeth Goodman (Nee Lockhart) passed peacefully on October 23, 2022, at the age of 87 in Calgary, AB. She was born on November 15, 1934, in Kincaid, SK to wonderful parents Albert Robert Lockhart and Thelma Luella Jones. She was predeceased by her husband Don Goodman. She will be sadly missed by her daughters Cathy Goodman, Susan Blomfield (Peter), and Judy Goodman (James McMahon); her grandchildren Sean, Bryce, and Rowan Blomfield; her sisters Laurie Mummery, Shirley Teeling (Dennis), and Sheila Reimche; her extended family and wealth of friends. She is remembered as an incredibly loving, giving, visionary, inspirational, and vibrant lady who was loved and admired by all.
Vera was raised in McCord and later in Moose Jaw, SK. She attended Seattle Pacific University and the U of C, achieving her MA degree. She taught school in Sundre and later Calgary. Vera was a best-selling author, humorous public speaker (founding member of CAPS), a pianist, and her passion for educating was legendary.
She was the recipient of the Governor Generals Award in high school, the Woman of Vision, Woman of Inspiration, and the 7 over 70 awards. She was an avid networker who continuously supported and connected people here and around the world.
She was always happy, positive, and grateful. Her sense of humor, radiant smile, piercing light-filled blue eyes, and zest for life will remain in the hearts of the thousands of souls she helped and touched along her way. She was Simply Vera and simply amazing!
Vera’s Celebration of Life will be held at First Alliance Church (12345 – 40 St SE) on Monday, November 7, 2022, at 1:00 pm. Refreshments to follow.
