Venard James Samson 1939 2022

SAMSON, Venard James -83, Arichat
It is with immeasurable grief we announce the peaceful passing of our father, Venard J. Samson of Alderney Point, which occurred at his residence at St. Anne Community and Nursing Care Center, Arichat, on September 22, 2022.
Born August 15, 1939, he was a much-loved son to the late Arthur and Margaret (Landry) Samson.
Dad loved everything about the sea. He loved to fish. He loved owning boats and dreaming of boats. For many years he was the proud captain on his fishing boat, “The Rodney and Sisters”. Dad loved music and a good bluegrass festival. He was always up for a party and enjoyed nothing less than a house full, or campground full, of people. He will forever be remembered for his endless hospitality, bottomless glasses of homemade beer, and his never ending love of lobster.
Dad had a big personality and a big, soft heart to go with it. Life was not always easy for him, but he never complained and took everything in stride. In the later years he would often say that he “lived a good, long, happy life and if he died tomorrow, he had no regrets”. We should all be so lucky as to live like Dad did.
Left to mourn his passing are his children; Sherma Boudreau (Norman) Arichat, Della Maltby (Jerry) Lower River, Rodney Samson (Sherri) West Arichat, Tanya Myatt (John) North Carolina and son-in-law Wayne Boudreau, Martinique; grandchildren; Mitchell (Alison), Holly (Matthew), Devin, Eric (Sabrina), Candace (Stéphane), Martine, Chantal, Liam and Joshua; great grandchildren; Austin, Rylan, Élias, Autumn and Lukas. As well as his only sister Jacqueline (Alfred) Martell, Petit de Grat; niece Natalie (Eugene), Arichat and nephew Darren, Petit de Grat.
Venard is predeceased by his first wife and our precious mother Edna (LeBlanc); second wife Helen (LeBlanc), and son, Darcy.
Cremation has taken place.
A Funeral Mass and burial to celebrate his life will take place at a later date.
We would like to thank everyone at St. Anne Community Nursing Care Center who took care of dad through the years. Thank you also to C.H.Boudreau Funeral Home.
Memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, St. Anne Nursing home, or the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia.
