Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Velia Muzzin on February 15, 2022, at the age of 88. Beloved wife of Cesare (predeceased), loving mother to Loretta (Cappello) (predeceased), Larry and Robert, mother-in-law to Phil Cappello, Annabel (Dunbar) Muzzin (predeceased), Paulina (Treiger) Muzzin. Proud nonna to Vanessa (Cappello) Boucher and her husband Scott, Michael Cappello and his wife Lisa (Paonessa), Kaila Muzzin, Jacob Muzzin, and Dominic Muzzin, and adoring Bisnonna to Lucas Boucher, Gabriel Boucher, and Evelina Cappello. She will be forever loved and missed by her nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, all of whom will treasure their own special memories with Zia Velia.
Velia will be fondly remembered for her strong will and determination, her sharp wit, and her caring heart. Anyone lucky enough to taste Velia’s cooking would agree that she was the best, and she always made sure that you didn’t leave her home hungry or empty-handed. Velia would speak fondly of her youth in Italy, sharing stories with humour and fondness; her pride and devotion toward her family never wavered and she welcomed children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of her own. Her appreciation for the beauty of nature and her ability to create beautiful things manifested in her garden, her food, and in crafts and clothing; all handmade with love. We will hear her voice and her beautiful laugh in the wind on the days when we miss her the most.
Those who know Velia well know that she loved and appreciated flowers more than anyone and took immense pride in her beautiful garden. If you would like to send a floral arrangement to honour Velia please send them to the funeral home or if desired, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, from 10:45 am – 11:45 am. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, visitation will be limited to 30 persons at a time. A private family-only funeral service will follow at noon. While the family appreciates that many would like to pay their respects in person, only those contacted by the family directly will be permitted to attend. The family sends regrets and appreciates your support and understanding during this difficult time.
A live stream of the service will be made available on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at 12:00 p.m. for those wishing to attend virtually. Online viewers, please be advised that the link will only go live 10 minutes prior to the service time. You may watch the mass by clicking HERE
