Griffin, Vance
It is with heavy hearts the family wishes to announce that Vance Trevor Griffin of Geary, NB passed away on July 18, 2022 after a short illness. Vance was born in North Head, Grand Manan, on May 17, 1937 and was the son of the late Maude (Zwicker) and Harley Griffin. Vance is now reunited with his loving wife, the late Phyllis Griffin whom he shared his life with for over 63 years, who passed away in 2021.
Vance was a devoted family man, his family meant everything to him and Phyllis. He worked as a driller in the Inco Mines in Sudbury, ON. for over 20 years. In his time off, he and Phyllis enjoyed travelling around the Maritimes, out west a couple of times to visit family and in the Eastern United States. Vance was a well read, informed, very smart guy, the family joked that you just had to ask him how smart he was! They referred to him as a “High Tech Red Neck”! He struggled at times to hear all the discussions going on but never failed to input his strong opinions even after the topic of discussion had moved on to something else.
Vance is survived by three daughters; Dawn Griffin, Kimberly Hoyt (Phillip) and Tammy Griffin (Pat), three sons; Blain (Susan), Clarence (Ellen) and Kevin (Donna), fourteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and also many nieces and nephews.
Along with his wife and parents, he is predeceased by two sisters Helen and Myrtle, and a brother Clifford.
The family wishes to thank all the staff at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital for the exceptional care of their father.
Family and friends are invited to a Funeral service on Friday July 22, 2022 at the Blissville Baptist Church at 11am, with Rev’s Sarah Palmater and Douglas Glew officiating. Interment will follow at the Blissville Cemetery. For those who wish, donations to the Blissville Cemetery would be appreciated by the family.
