Obituary
Nason, Valerie Jean (Tracy)
Our beloved Valerie Jean Nason (nee Tracy) passed away peacefully in the late hours of May 18, 2022, at the age of 72. Val, as she was known to most, lived a beautiful and dignified life, full of compassion, goodwill, a sweet laugh, and love. Gracious to the end, she was ever a kind-hearted soul to everyone she met. Born on March 7, 1950, in Fredericton Junction, NB to Allan and Enid (Webb) Tracy, she was the eldest of their four daughters – Valerie, Ona, Shara and Karen – known well all their lives as the Tracy Girls. Their family moved from Tracy, NB to Maine, USA to Hoyt, NB until finally settling back into the little village of Tracy again where they grew and flourished together as a family. They spent their lives loving and cherishing one another, whether in their home in Tracy or at their camp at Peltoma Lake.
Val was outgoing from the start, ready and willing to be a friend to anyone in need, and always brought a cheerful disposition to everything she did. She had a wonderful sense of humour and loved a good laugh. She loved to dance and could jive with the best of them at the local hall and school dances in her teenage years. And her smile could light up a room. After graduating from high school, Valerie began studying nursing before pursuing her education in administration at Business College. She wholly acknowledged that science was not her strong point, but she could organize like a pro and would go on to become an incredibly skilled and highly valuable administrator over the course of her professional career. She married the love of her life, Donald, at the age of 22 and together they would create a loving home and beautiful life for their two children, Bradley and Jillian. Val was a wonderful mother who championed her children’s hopes and aspirations, comforted them in times of worry and always told them to dream big, because God is big. Her family was her greatest joy, and she was their heart and soul.
Val was a steadfast Christian woman of faith who ardently believed that she was simply here to love, and that’s what she did. She was a member of the Canadian Mother’s Union. She played a diligent role in her children’s schooling, faithfully driving them to and from until she could happily pass the keys along to her kids, and directing many variety shows and school plays over the years. She was an active and engaged member of her community and her church, especially taking part in those things that might help to make others’ lives better or easier.
Left to love and remember her beautiful spirit from here on earth are her husband, Donald, her children, Jillian and Bradley, daughter-in-law Anita, and her granddaughter, Daveny. She will be deeply missed by her loving and faithful sisters, Ona Tracy, Shara (Greg) Golden, and Karen (late Bill) McCracken. Val is also survived by her aunts Edna Webb and Doreen Webb, her uncle Arthur Chenard, her honourary mother-in-law Doris Mersereau, her sister-and-brother-in-law Susan Nason and Kendall Nason, her nephews Gerad, Joel, Scott and Jeff, along with several dearly loved cousins, family members, sons and daughters of the heart, and many, many sweet and dear friends. Val was predeceased by her loving parents, Allan and Enid, her parents-in-law Payson and Lanore Nason, and by many dear aunts, uncles, grandparents, family and friends who were all very precious to her.
We know our mother, wife, sister, friend, Val, was loved by so many. If you feel like sharing a story, a memory or just some happy thoughts of Val with us, we would welcome you to send these on to inlovingmemoryofval@gmail.com – we will read each one and take comfort in your love and memories of her. “Each new day is a new beginning – to learn more about ourselves; to care more about others; to laugh more than we did; to accomplish more than we thought we could; and be more than we were before” ~Author Unknown
