Valerie Gayle Merritt May 4th 2022

With heavy hearts we announce the unexpected passing of Valerie Gayle Merritt on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at the age of 53 years.
Valerie was born on April 17, 1969 in Weyburn, Saskatchewan to Ella Ness (Bradshaw) and Arthur Ness. She worked in Weyburn for many years as a caregiver at the long-term care home. In 1991 she gave birth to her daughter Jessica, followed by her son Tyler in 1993. She spent many years as a dedicated and loving stay-at-home mother.
In 2000, she and her family moved to Regina, Saskatchewan where she worked hard to obtain her Licenced Practical Nurse (LPN) diploma. She served her community for many years as a LPN at Wascana Rehabilitation Centre, supporting those in need. Valerie cared for those around her. Her loved ones will remember her for the compassion she showed for the people and animals in her life.
Valerie loved gardening, hunting, farming and cooking for loved ones. She was often happiest riding her bicycle and spending time with her rescue dog Zelda. She enjoyed listening to music, classic television and watching movies at home.
Valerie was predeceased by her father Arthur Ness. Valerie is survived by her two children Jessica Merritt and Tyler Merritt; her partner Darrell Bzdel; her mother Ella Bradshaw; and her sisters Kathy Schuette and Evelyn Ness.
She will be laid to rest at the Souris Valley Memorial Gardens, Estevan, Saskatchewan. A private family service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the SPCA in Valerie’s memory.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Valerie Gayle Merritt May 4th 2022..
