It is with a great sadness and heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of our beloved father, son, brother, uncle, nephew, and friend Tyson Wesley Provost at of 29 years old in Calgary, AB. Tyson was born in Calgary, AB on October 28, 1992, at Peter Lougheed Hospital to Stephanie Provost and Wesley Weasel Fat. Tyson was born and raised in Calgary but enjoyed his family trips and time spent at home on the Piikani Nation. He was loved by many as he had many family and friends that welcomed Tyson into their homes.

Special cousins Chase and Jarius Big Crow, Tashina Smith, Marilyn Smith and numerous cousins from the Provosts, Weasel Fat, Bruised Head, Smiths, Twigg, Bastien and Little Dog families.
Tyson was born and raised in Calgary, AB where he spent most of his life. He attended John Paul Secondary School, where he met many of his childhood friends. In his younger years Tyson grew up in Falconridge and Castleridge areas in Calgary, where he enjoyed riding his bike, playing cars, games at the park and hanging out with his friends in the neighbourhood. Tyson was notorious for picking on his sisters and would always get away with it cause in his parents and grandma’s eyes he was always innocent and never guilty; it was his way of survival being an only boy with 5 sisters. As Tyson got older, he made a lot of friends and started to get to know his extended families. This gave Tyson a stronger connection to his Blackfoot identity, he had an enriched sense of self and pride to be from Piikani and Kainai, he was proud of his culture and had a keen interest in wanting to know more. While Tyson stayed at the Kainai Healing Lodge, he started to learn more about his culture and ceremonies that was healing for his spirit. Tyson enjoyed attending Pow Wow’s with his late Grandma Frances, him and his sisters would all pile in her minivan then hit the old pow wow trail. They always came prepared for the weekend with camping gear and pow wow chairs, Tyson would often be found watching his sister Tamara dance and listening to singing which was special to him. Tyson enjoyed working with family, his work experience started in high school when he did roofing work with his uncle Gumper and cousin Chase in Cochrane. In 2011, Tyson decided to try seismic work with his cousin Shane, he went to work in Bonnyville, AB for Eagle Canada Seismic as a line worker which he enjoyed trying something new and a change in scenery. Then in 2014 he spent a few years working with his uncle Adrian at Piikani Housing, renovating homes for nation members, were he developed some carpentry skills and continued work with Jim Potts, which reconnected him back home in Piikani.
Tyson truly loved being an uncle, he always enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews, he had a special bond with them that only they knew about. He would make them laugh and spend time playing with them; he truly enjoyed those priceless moments. He loved to spoil them as well, he was one cool uncle that they love and adore. Tyson loved his family and close friends more then anything, he would often check-in to see how everyone was doing. Tyson had a smile that could light a dark room, he had a heart of gold and cared for all those near and dear to him. Tyson’s biggest accomplishment and proudest moment was when he and Tanisha welcomed their beautiful baby girl Seneca into the world, he loved and adored her, he was so proud to be a dad that he couldn’t wait to share his new bundle of joy with his family. Seneca will sadly not be able to grow up with her father in her life, but she has been truly loved and embraced by his parents, siblings, and extended family, she will always be loved and will know how caring, kind, and loving her father was. Tyson’s life on earth was short, but his memories and big heart will forever live on in his daughter, family, and friends.
Tyson is predeceased by grandparents Patricia Provost, Ralph Sr and Frances Weasel Fat, and Chester Bruised Head, great grandparents Napoleon and Angeline Provost, Chief Pete and Grace Smith, and Pete and Genevieve Bruised Head, niece Shanaya Rae Malcom-Provost, aunts Velma Little Dog, Angeline Small Legs and uncle Malcom Provost.
