Obituary
Trudy Ann (Edeltraude Kyselka) Solomon
May 28th, 1931 to October 31st, 2022
Trudy was one of the strongest persons we have ever known
She lived and survived, falling off a mountain in Austria, WW2, and arriving in Canada without speaking a word of English, and that was just the opening act by the time she was 21 as the advance party for the rest of the family
She was a wife and mother to three children
Vernon in 1956, Linda Marie changed our lives in 1960 but I never heard her complain and Susan in 1965
Our mother was never a victim, no matter what happened
She was a force of nature, having never ending energy, amazingly compassionate and practical, however she did not suffer fool’s and would tell them her thoughts bluntly
Always loving, strict but loving, more than once breaking a wooden spoon, and like her mother before her, there was always enough food for anyone who showed up
We may not have had what we wanted, but we always had what we needed, love, support, guidance, honesty, integrity, work ethic, a free spirit, the freedom to make mistakes and learn, and that was alright
She was instrumental in forming the ADAMR which went on to become Community Living South Simcoe, affecting the lives and opportunities for many members of our community
A strong faithful member of Trinity Centennial United Church, the choir the UCW, and working at every dinner.
She supported dad’s musical passion and very well may have been the real reason for the success that dad received with his many local bands with her generous hospitality
Mom enjoyed simple pleasures and was never flashy or arrogant, just a great human who made the world a better place for everyone who was touched by her
Alzheimer’s took that vibrancy from her 6 years ago and now 50 years after my grandparents left us too soon, she can join them in a peace she so richly deserves
Music was a large part of mom’s enjoyment, even when she could no longer communicate, she would sway and tap her feet to the music
Predeceased by our sister Linda in 1980, she will be missed by her loving husband of 67 years John (Jack), Susan and husband David Kenney, her granddaughter Chandler Herget, Vernon and Eva, granddaughter Margaret, great granddaughter Mila
Her sister Lynda, Jim Spenceley(D) of Lethbridge, and brother Frank from Calgary, sisters-in-law June, Bob Farvolden (D) and Marilyn (Hart Holmstrom), nieces and nephews, Judy, Candice, Peter, Bill, Rob Spenceley (D)
Leanne, Nicole, John, Frank, great niece Carly and the “extended family friends” that knew her as “Aunt Trudy”
Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, “GGma” and friend to many Rest In Peace, your legacy will endure.
Our family would like to thank the long care team at Windsor House Victoria Village for their amazing compassion and care for Trudy during her stay
Hopefully the champagne was on ice and her dancing shoes were waiting for her
