Tom Bob Van Riezen Friday April 29th 2022

Van Riezen, Tom ‘Bob’
RCAF 1959-1965
It is with heavy hearts the family announces the sudden passing of Bob, at Juravinski Hospital, Hamilton, on Friday, April 29, 2022, at the age of 81. Beloved husband and best friend of Diane (nee Gould) for over 55 years. Proud and loving father of Royan Van Riezen (Lesley Blythe-Collins), Rejeanne Appelman, and Rhonneke Van Riezen (Andy Leach). Cherished Opa of Niko, Ava, Drew, and Reese. Sadly and dearly missed by John Appelman and the Appelman family, the Leach family, and by his nieces, nephews and extended family. Predeceased by his sisters, May Van Riezen (the late Pierre Chaumont), Milou Van Riezen and by his brother Peter Van Riezen (Elphie). A dear friend to many, especially Janet Ewen (Val and Kris) and Jill and Lee Van Biesbrouck (Michael, Heather and Bryan); and ‘2nd dad’ to those who would commonly refer to him as, ‘Bob VR’.
The family wishes to thank all family and close friends for their compassion, love and support during this time. Bob will be lovingly remembered for his ‘gift of gab’, passion for politics, and unwavering love and devotion to his family and friends.
As per Bob’s wishes, cremation has taken place with a Celebration of his Life to be held at a later date. If desired, donations in Bob’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
