Tineke (Bosma) Goodfellow
1941 – 2022
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Tineke (Bosma) Goodfellow.
Tineke, wife of David Goodfellow of Renous, N.B., passed away at home on Friday,
June 3, 2022. She was the first child born to Jeep and Moetsche (vanDiggelen) Bosma.
In addition to her husband, she leaves behind her daughter Caroline Tremblay
(James Armstrong); her son Richard Tremblay and his children Rose Marie and Julien;
her daughter Valerie (Tom) Waldherr and their daughters Katie, Jillian and Leah; and
her step-daughter Denise (Lorrie) Hallihan and their son, Alex.
She also leaves behind her sisters Alice Bosma Madigan (Jim) and Mieke
Bosma; her brother John (Marjorie Cassidy); and 6 nieces and nephews and 9 grand
nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father (Heit) in 2005, her mother
(Mem) in 2017 and sister-in-law, Paula Bosma, in 2018.
Tineke (Trijntje) was born in Grouw, Friesland, Holland on February 12, 1941.
She emigrated with her family to Canada in 1955 and attended Harkins High School.
She purchased Fabric Discount in Newcastle from her mother and operated the store
alongside her sister, Mieke.
She worked on repairing golf cart canopies when she lived in Quebec. Back in
New Brunswick she always made curtains and pillows, reupholstered cushions, and
knitted wool socks. When the store offered quilting classes she also tried and perfected
quilting. Tineke made lopi sweaters and knit cotton blankets on which she did Swedish
designs. She also performed with the Miramichi Melodies.
Tineke was skilled in cooking, baking and preserving. She loved to shop for
clothes and appreciated a good deal, often remarking with pride: “And it was only….”
The funeral of Tineke (Bosma) Goodfellow will be held at Davidson’s Funeral Chapel, 597 Old King George Highway, Miramichi, on Thursday June 9, at 2pm, officiated by Rev, Charlene Maguire MacKnight. Interment for the family will follow in the
Miramichi Cemetery.
The family wishes to express their thanks to all who gave their support,
especially Miramichi Regional Hospital and Extra Mural nurses, LoriAnn Duffy and
Penny Keenan for her care, love and support.
In her memory, donations to the Ukraine Relief Fund would be appreciated by the family.
