Tina Wiens August 08 2022

Tina Wiens was born August 5, 1936 to parents Abraham and Agatha (Martens) Doerksen in Carrot River, Saskatchewan. She was the second child born in a family of eighteen.
Tina went to school until Grade 8 and then her father needed more money to help with the family, so she worked outside the home. Tina went to work for Harry & Margaret Van Meter. She did yard work, housework, pumped water for cattle, and when the basement flooded, she had to dip water into pails and haul it out. For all this work, she made $50.00/month. She also worked for Jeff Harrison and his wife, who had polio, and did housework, babysat and had to iron and fold Jeff’s shirts, as he was a bank manager and needed to look tidy.
Mom met William Wiens and they were married August 5, 1956 in Carrot River, Saskatchewan. They took their belongings and wedding gifts and put them in their 1928 Model A. They stopped at the Blue Jay store to buy a tub, washboard, broom and groceries. They were excited to start their new life together with $75.00 in their pockets.
After a few years of being married, they moved to Tisdale, Saskatchewan, where Dad was employed with Bergen & Little. They rented a house there for $25.00 per month. The family moved back to Carrot River in 1963, when they purchased a farm north of Carrot River.
Mom loved sewing, gardening, her family – who meant everything to her, helping with the animals on the farm, and in later years, helped Dad with painting and fishing together.
She was predeceased by her husband, William Wiens, her parents, her mother and father-in-law, her granddaughter, Nancy Wiens, great-grandson, Darren Wolfe; brothers, Jacob, David, and Ben; sisters, Agatha and Sarah, plus numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
She leaves to treasure her memory, her children, Bernard (Katherina) Wiens, Cornelius(Barbara) Wiens, Jacob (Sandra) Wiens, Agatha(John) Derksen, Katherina(William) Derksen, and Elizabeth(Ronald) Lybbert; 24 grandchildren; 71 great-grandchildren; numerous brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends that won her respect.
