RUTTER, TIM – It is with profound sadness that the family of Timothy James Rutter announce his passing after a courageous battle with Lewy Body Dementia on Sunday, February 6, 2022 in his 64th year at Northland Pointe.
Tim was the loving husband of Noreen (nee MacDonald), dear father of Karlee (Brad) Griffin and Kyle Rutter, devoted grandfather of James Rutter, Annabelle and Mia Griffin, brother of Becky Foster, Wendy Ruiter and Rob (Francie) Rutter, brother-in-law of Betty Rutter, son-in-law of Don and Maria MacDonald, brother-in-law of Don MacDonald (Beth). Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Tim was predeceased by his parents George and Ettaline Rutter, his brother George Rutter, and his brother-in-laws Larry Foster and John Ruiter.
Tim was a jack-of-all trades and enjoyed doing his own renovations, repairs and maintaining a meticulous landscape. He enjoyed spending as much time outside as possible. In the early days, he especially enjoyed spending time on his family boat and barbequing hamburgers. As the family grew older, his trips to Port Dover transitioned from his boat to his Harley.
He was a dedicated family man who always strived for perfection in all that he did. He was an avid runner who was committed to sport and his health and well being.
He was a die hard Leaf fan and always believed this would be “their year”. Above all, he loved watching his children and grandchildren taking part in their sports no matter whether it was figure skating, hockey, soccer, or more recently playball.
Tim spent 25 years of his career at the St. Lawrence Seaway where he held the position of Corporate Safety Manager when he retired. He was a very hard working, dedicated employee and was very proud of attaining his university degree late in his career. Early in retirement, he was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia. He faced challenges from this disease with patience, kindness, and compliance – like a true gentleman. During these years, he always looked forward to his Friday-night dinners with his sisters Becky and Wendy that transitioned from fine dining to KFC take-out.
A special thank you to Becky for the relentless hours and commitment of care she provided to Tim during his hospitalization and transition to Northland Pointe.
A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Sahlas (Hamilton) as well as Dr. Emily Wilson, the two Cailtins, Troy, and Winny at Northland Pointe for their compassion, special care and concern for Tim.
Tim’s family will receive visitors at the DAVIDSON FUNERAL HOME, 135 Clarence Street, Port Colborne on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm. 1. It was such an honor to meet Tim. I wish I had met him earlier in his healthier years. The love that his Family showed and provided for him in the short time he was at Northland was truly admiring and something I will keep with me. Rest easy Tim.
