Theodore Lawrence Ted Totten 1941 2022

Obituary for
Theodore Lawrence “Ted” Totten
Age 80, Debert, died peacefully on August 6, 2022, with family by his side. Ted was born on December 4, 1941, the son of Lester and Letitia Totten.
Ted was a kind man with a big heart. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He had a fun sense of humour, telling a joke or two, participating in any shenanigans, going to dances, but what he enjoyed most were the family picnics and BBQs that his wife, Ruth would plan. Ted’s hobbies included fishing, watching hockey, either at the rink or on the TV and working on small engines. Ted was a member of the Debert Volunteer Fire Brigade for many years – serving as chief for a few of those years.
Ted worked at McCully & Soy Ltd. for most of his career. He was a self-taught heavy equipment mechanic/operator and truck driver. After McCully & Soy Ltd., Ted worked at Bartlett’s Radiator Plant. This career took him to Mexico and Australia to set up equipment for new plants.
Ted is survived by his three children, Jeff (Tamara), Tom (Michelle Stewart) and Tracy (Gilbert) Mercer as well as several grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Ted will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Donations in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, August 19th from 6 – 8pm in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro, NS, Eileen Corah officiating. Online condolences are available at www.ColchesterCommunity.com
