Theodora Kathlene Teddy Larche 1925 2022

Obituary of Theodora Kathlene Larche
LARCHE, Theodora “Teddy” Kathlene (née Gach)
1925-2022
Teddy Larche was a caring and humble wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She left her earthly home for her heavenly home on August 3, 2022, at the age of 97. After graduating from high school, she worked for three years at the historical J.L. Hudson department store in downtown Detroit. There, she met the love of her life and in 1947, she and Louis were married. Together they built a home and raised a family in Stoney-Point, ON. They were happily married for over 60 years. Teddy had a variety of interests throughout her life. She was hard-working and tended her family, home and garden with love and care. She also enjoyed riding her bike, playing tennis and bowling with friends. She was a skilled handworker-sewing clothes and quilts for her family and banners for her church. And what yummy cookies she baked for her grandkids! Teddy liked to read all kinds of books and she worked in the town library for many years. Later in life, two of her favorite daily routines included reading her newspaper in the mornings and watching Jeopardy! in the evenings. Teddy was active in her community. She volunteered with the Girl Guides, the Lioness Club and the Tilbury Help Center. And she was a loyal member of the Catholic Women’s League for over forty years. She and Louis were deeply devoted to their Catholic faith and parish. Teddy was friendly and had a sunny disposition. Everyone loved her laughter and warm hugs. She appreciated life’s simple pleasures- flowers and birds in her garden and playing cribbage at the kitchen table. She had an openness to accepting people from all walks of life. She was thoughtful and shared her kindness wherever it was needed. She is pre-deceased by her husband, Louis (2009), her daughter, Lucy (1960) and her siblings, Virginia and Fred. She is survived by her six children: Virginia (Dave), Anne (Brian), Jullin (Jim), Louise (Harry, d. 2021), Len (Michelle), and Christine (Don). Her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren live across Canada and the US. Visitation will be at the Reaume Funeral Home Inc., 6 Canal St. West, Tilbury, on Friday, August 5, 2022 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral Mass at Visitation Parish Church, Comber, on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. Please note there will be no visitation before Mass. Interment to follow at the Annunciation cemetery in Stoney Point. Teddy leaves behind an abundance of cherished memories for us all. Her warmth of heart and generosity of spirit will live on in all who knew and loved her. Her own words, ‘Be kind and love one another’ will continue to live on in our hearts forever and always.

  1. Since my younger years to the last time I saw her just before she moved from her home, Mrs Larche, my childhood neighbour, showed me kindness and shared liberally her beautiful smile and engaging laugh. I truly feel privileged to have known her and will cherish the memories I have of her. My deepest sympathies to all the family.
