Theo Kerzel 2022

We are deeply saddened to announce the death of Theo Kerzel on the 24th March 2022 in Huntsville, Ontario. Theo died peacefully surrounded by most of his Family. Theo was born in Ludwigshafen, Rhineland-Pfalz, Germany, on the 2nd of October 1929 to Father, Theodore and Mother, Carolina.
During his early career with the Bank in Germany, he traveled extensively, with Spain becoming his favourite destination. In 1959 Theo traveled to Toronto, Canada and during the voyage on the ship he met Frohild Hartung, and they were married in Toronto in December of 1960. In 1962 they had a son (Christopher) and in 1967 a daughter (Eva).
Theo pursued a very successful career in Insurance and Accountancy which culminated in the position of CEO with a venerable Toronto Firm. He graciously afforded an early retirement from this position in 1986. He then pursued one of his passions by managing The Classical Record Shop in Toronto and celebrated the art of music often by attending many an event.
Theo and Frohild moved to their Lake of Bays, Ontario Cottage in 1994 and ten years later to Huntsville, Ontario where they enjoyed exploring all Ontario had to offer. Theo was a great lover of classical music and international travel, an avid reader and prided himself on his self-taught woodworking skills, that came in very handy at the cottage.
A true renaissance man, he was well versed in many subjects as a result of his love of learning and exploring and will be dearly missed by his wife of 62 years, Frohild, his son, Christopher, his daughter, Eva and his grandchildren, Christian, Raquel and Elyse.
Rest in peace Opa, we love you and your memories will live on in us forever.
As per Theo’s wishes a celebration of life will take place in Summer of 2022. Dates and details will follow.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Theo Kerzel 2022..
