Obituary for
Thelma Jane Paradis
Paradis, Thelma Jane – Age 74, Birch Hill. Thelma passed away peacefully on July 15, 2022, in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro with Bob and Monique by her side. She was born the daughter of the late Gordon and Barbara (Geddes) Fleck in Truro.
Thelma is survived by her devoted husband of 48 years, Bob; daughter, Monique Anthony (Chad Ramsey); grandchildren, Bradley and Emma and her brother, Robert Fleck.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her mother and father-in-law, Rose and Germain Paradis.
Thelma started her working career with the telephone company until Monique’s arrival in 1974, when she became a stay-at-home Mom, making their home and raising Monique in Middle Stewiacke close to where she grew up herself. Once Monique started school, Thelma went to work in the cafeteria at Brookfield Junior High School where she worked along side Barbara Fisher who became a dear friend. Later, she worked at Sears in Truro.
For many years, Thelma could be found around her property in a flower garden. She took great pride in their beautiful yard. She always welcomed weekend visits from her cousin, Eva from Moncton. Many weekends were spent at Martinique Beach with cousins and friends. Thelma and Bob spent a few winters in Florida where she was visited by family and friends.
Thelma was most proud of her grandchildren and loved them with all her heart.
Kindness and compassion for all, whether it was putting on a feed, providing a place to rest your head or taking in the stray momma cat with a litter of kittens – their door was always open.
A special thank you to Dr. Farrell, Dr. Coad, Martha and the nurses in Palliative Care, VON, especially Chelsea and Tasha for their care as well as the Paramedics for their kindness.

As per Thelma’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro, NS.
