Thelma’s Obituary
Roach, Thelma Jane – 92, Pugwash, passed away October 25, 2022, at All Saints Hospital, Springhill. She was born in Montreal to Thomas Joseph and Mary (Baldo) Whitehouse. Thelma met Kenneth Joseph Roach while working at Simpson’s Ltd in Montreal. She married “the love of her life” in Ste. Therese, Quebec on September 19,1958. Many summer vacations were spent at Heather Beach, Cumberland County where they had a cottage for several years. Upon retirement, Thelma and Kenneth moved to Pugwash and purchased their home. They especially enjoyed playing cards with friends. Thelma was an avid supporter of the Pugwash Memorial Hospital Ladies Auxiliary and worked for many years at the Thrift Shop operated by the Auxiliary. She loved getting out with the ladies for lunches. Thelma was noted for her sense of humor. Ken and Thelma did not have children but were loved by the neighborhood children. On one occasion, Thelma was asked if she had children, she replied that she did not but they were “still trying”, she was 89 at the time. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth Roach (2020) and her brother Thomas Whitehouse (2021). She was the last of her immediate family. She leaves a sister-in-law, Joan Whitehouse and a nephew, Scott Whitehouse, both in Ontario. She will now be with her beloved Kenneth. In keeping with Thelma’s wishes there will be no services held.
