It is with great sadness that we, the family of Terry L. Dixon of Ben Eoin, announce his sudden passing on Saturday, May 14, 2022, in Hospice Cape Breton, Membertou, with family by his side.
A loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, Terry was born June 28, 1950, in Sydney. He was a son of the late Robert and Glenda Dixon and son-in-law of the late George and Gertrude MacDonald.
For 51 years, Terry was a member of the Painters Allied Trades IVPAT, District Council 39. His trade as a plaster/drywaller gave him many years of joy and pride. If you look around Sydney and surrounding areas, you will not find many buildings that have not been touched by Terry Dixon.
An avid outdoorsman in his time, he enjoyed the country, hunting and fishing. But his greatest joy was his granddaughters, Hanna, Kayla, Kylie and Taylor. He cherished every moment of being their Papa.
Terry is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Valery (MacDonald); children, Bonnie (Frank), Trina (David) and Terry (Lisa); five brothers; six sisters; and nieces and nephews with whom he enjoyed many memories.
As a family, we want to sincerely thank the staff of Palliative Care. We are forever grateful to Dr. Anne Frances D’Intino for the excellent treatment, love and compassion she provided Terry. We also have heartfelt gratitude for the exceptional staff at Hospice Cape Breton for their loving and compassionate care. They always treated Terry and us, his family, like their own family.
As per his request, Terry will be cremated under the care and direction of Sydney Memorial Chapel. At a future date, Terry’s family will take joy in spreading his ashes in the places he loved most.
