Obituary
It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Theodore “Ted” Gaylord Lohnes, which occurred peacefully at his home on Friday, July 29th, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Born 1934, in Cape Ray, NL, he is the son of the late Theodore and Nora (Bourke) Lohnes. Ted worked as an Automotive Technician for over 40 years and was owner/operator of Senholt Environmental. He was involved with Air Cadets, Army Cadets and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Ted loved restoring old cars and was an avid gun collector and a firearms safety instructor.
Ted is survived by his loving and devoted wife Jeannette (Goodall) of 52 years; sons Theodore Lohnes III (Lisa) of Aldergrove, BC, Richard Lohnes of Moose Jaw, SK, Gordon Lohnes of New Minas, NS, Harvey Lohnes (Shirley) of Winnipeg, MB, Christopher Lohnes (Corrina) of Saint John, George Lohnes of Winnipeg, MB, Anthony Lohnes of Halifax, NS; daughters Nora Lohnes of Halifax, NS, Juanita Annis (Rodney) of Middleton, NS, Gloria Lohnes of New Brunwick, Denise Steffensen (Daniel) of Winnipeg, MB, Hannah Lohnes of Dartmouth, NS; sister Bernadette Gallagher of Nova Scotia; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Along with his parents, Ted was predeceased by his sons Carmen, Paul and infant son Glen and brothers Lloyd and Reg.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation being held on Wednesday, August 3rd from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A Funeral Service will take place from the Fundy Funeral Home chapel on Thursday, August 4th at 2 p.m. A private interment will take place at Oakridge Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Lower Sackville, NS at a later date. Donations in memory of Ted may be made to the Kidney Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
