Peacefully, surrounded by loving family, on Friday, March 25, 2022, at St. Joseph’s Hospice, Sylvia Blain passed away at the age of 80. Born in Bristol, England on December 13, 1941. Immigrated to Canada with her family in 1947. Special friend/ partner of Keith Squires and his daughter Kristin (Kevin). Loving mother of Elizabeth (Ian) Alton, of Petrolia, William (Gloria) Crevier, of Sarnia, Robert (Marc) Crevier, of Ottawa, Michele (Frank), of Sarnia and Kay (Rob) Vautour, of Sarnia. Treasured Nana of 15 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. Dear sister of Kay Mott of Sarnia, Dr. Rex (Marnie) Garrett of Sarnia, Paul (Ann) Garrett of Sarnia, Susan (John) MacIntyre of Sarnia, Mike (Wanda) Garrett of Sarnia, and Cindy Garrett of London. Will be sadly missed by her lifelong friend Pat Myllyoja. Predeceased by Raymond Blain (2007), Beverly Crevier (1988), parents Rex & Ivy Garrett, brother-in-law James Mott, niece Eilidh MacIntrye, and nephew Jimmy Mott. Sylvia enjoyed music, playing cards, reading, theatre, watching sports and spending time with her family. She grew up with a musical family, having played the piano herself and loved listening to her brothers and sisters play guitar. Sylvia was an avid card player, playing several days a week with her close friends. Sylvia enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with Keith at Centennial Park watching the ducks. She was the Number 1 Fan when it came to supporting her children and grandchildren when it came to sports. Sylvia was often found in an arena cheering on her grandsons Dawson and Kyle! She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Family and friends will be received at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at 2:30 p.m. Those who wish to attend the funeral service must each RSVP: signup.com/go/yAzFXjb. Cremation will follow. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to St. Joseph’s Hospice Resources Centre and PH Robinson Lane (cheques only at the funeral home please).
