1935-2022
Sydney (Syd) Orland Douthwright, 87, of Salisbury
passed away Wednesday December 21, 2022 at the Moncton Hospital. Born
in Colpitts Settlement he was a son of Valentine and Greta
Douthwright. Syd retired from Atlantic Engine rebuilders and he
enjoyed backyard mechanic jobs, driving truck and his motorcycles. He
was a member of Five Points Baptist Church and the Salisbury Lions
Club where he was a proud recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellowship
Award.
Survived and sadly missed by his wife Cheryl; his
children Rodney (Cindy) and Eunice MacLeod and Sandra Bunclark; his
grandchildren Brandon, Erika, Josh, Zack and Theresa great
grandchildren Mason, Brody,Braydon, Abby, Cobin, Ainsley, Bentley,
Cassidy, Mikayla, Abbigail, Allison, Noah and Jordan. Survived also by
step-children Jennifer Levine Simoneau, Donna Tingley and
grandchildren George and Tamara Simoneau; by Uncle Bob
Douthwright, Aunt Dorothy Morrissey and by several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his first wife Shirley, sister Carol Bannister and
infant brother Wayne.
Family will receive relatives and friends at the
Salisbury Funeral Home (372-4800) on Thursday December 29 from 6-8
p.m. A Celebration of Syd’s life will be held from the funeral home
chapel on Friday December 30 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Bill Parks and
Pastor Paul Leger officiating. Interment at Fair Haven Cemetery,
Moncton at a later date.
If desired, in memory of Syd, memorials to a local
food bank would be appreciated by the family.
