Stapells, Suzanne (nee Proulx)
Died peacefully on Friday May 6, 2022 at the age of 74 at Campbell House Hospice, Collingwood holding the hands of her loving family.
Suzanne was the beloved wife of Richard for almost 50 years in Montreal, Mississauga, Oakville and then Wasaga Beach. Loving and devoted mother of Christine (Matt Innocente) and Karen (T.J. Skitt). Cherished grandmother of Abbey Crockett, Rylan and Cameron Skitt and Zoey Innocente. Suzanne is also survived by her brother Michael Proulx and his wife Donna Rennie, her sister-in-law Sue Meyer and her partner Pat Gauthier, her nephew Simon Proulx and her nieces Kim Kuenzli (Meyer) and Jenny Meyer. She is predeceased by her parents Réal and Jacqueline Proulx.
She was “Miss Suzanne” to thousands of ballet students over 40 years. She was the most kind and caring woman – always the epitome of grace and elegance. A tireless volunteer – her work with Home for Life, 211 and the gift shop at the Collingwood General & Marine Hospital is part of her enduring legacy. Suzanne was also a woman of strong faith whose assurance buoyed her spirit throughout her illness. She has enriched the lives of so many, and she will be deeply missed.
Our heartfelt appreciation goes out to all of Suzanne’s caregivers. Special thanks to Dr. Eric Tseng, Dr. Jason Yu, Monique Voorn, Lori Kennedy and her Nurses, PSWs and the amazing Campbell House Hospice staff.
