Suzanne Marie Ritchie
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Suzanne Ritchie, 74, of Mississauga, on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, surrounded by family while in the compassionate care of the Dorothy Ley Hospice.
Suzanne, or Sue as she was more commonly known, was born on March 22, 1948, to Joseph and Olive (Lemmon) Marshman in Toronto, Ontario. Predeceased by her loving husband Lewis Ritchie of Mississauga, devotedly married for 48 years. Sue was a kind and nurturing mother to Jason (Christina) Ritchie of Mississauga, and loving grammy to Olivia and Aleksandra Ritchie. Also predeceased by her brother, Joseph (Joan) Marshman, and sister Elizabeth (Roger) Bettles. Sue is fondly remembered by nieces Deborah (Wayne) Glendinning, Denise (Michael) Azaria, and nephew Justin Mann, among other nieces nephews and cousins.
A graduate of Mimico High School, Sue spent many years coaching youth in 5-pin bowling, having ascended in the sport to the rank of Provincial Champion in 1974, an achievement recognized by then Premier of Ontario, William Davis. Sue worked in various administrative roles from the 1970’s through 2000’s, serving as Executive Assistant to many leaders in varying industries.
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the Palliative Care Team at Credit Valley Hospital, and the doctors, nurses, PSWs and volunteers of the Dorothy Ley Hospice. Cremation took place on May 19, 2022, and per Sue’s request, no formal service is to be held, however a Celebration of Life will be held in coming months. For those wishing to make a donation in lieu of flowers, the family requests considering the Dorothy Ley Hospice or the Canadian Cancer Society.
