Obituary of SUSAN ADELE FLEMING
SUSAN ADELE FLEMING
It is with great sadness we announce that Susan Adele Fleming passed away peacefully on October 29, 2022 at Beacon Hill Lodge where she was well cared for, at the age of 76 years.
She was predeceased by her brothers Colin and Wayne Fleming and her grandson Anthony Ramirez and her partner Gail Dyck.
Susan is survived by her children Warren (Helen) Kowalson, Scott (Charlotte) Kowalson, Michael (Delores) Kowalson and Karen Ramirez. Her grandchildren: Jennifer and Jessica Kowalson (Warren), Brenleigh and Nathanael Smith of Champaign, IL, Hailey Kowalson (Emmanuel Lomuro), Tianna Kowalson, Alliyah Kowalson (Solomon Friesen) – (Michael), Alex, David and Kevin Ramirez (Karen). All grandchildren reside in Winnipeg except as noted.
Susan was born November 15, 1945, and was raised in Winnipeg Manitoba. She worked as Licensed Practical Nurse for many years and then as a cook with railroad crews.
As Sue was a child in the foster system, she took joy later in life in locating many of her lost family and reconnecting with them. Susan had a generous spirit and was often willing to share the last of her finances or possessions with others even if it meant going without.
She always loved the music of her youth, especially 50s classics and country music. She loved to shop at thrift stores – where finding a good deal was the highlight of her day. Sue easily made friends with neighbours wherever she lived and will be missed by many.
The family thanks the staff at Beacon Hill Lodge for caring for her during the pandemic and in her final days.
A memorial service will be held at the Central Church of Christ at 170 St Mary’s Road at 7:00 PM on Thursday, November 10, 2022. Please use the FRONT entrance only.
