Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Susan Metcalfe (nee Duffy) announce that she peacefully passed away Sunday August 7, 2022 in the Peace River Hospital at the age of 66 years.
Susan was born June 7, 1956 in Grande Prairie, AB to Virginia and Roy Duffy. She was one of twelve children.
She spent her childhood on the family farm until the family relocated inti the city where she spent the rest of her early adult years.
She married the love of her life Ross Metcalfe in 1976 and he brought along a two year old daughter, Denise Metcalfe making her an instant mother. They added to their family in 1978 when their son Stephen Metcalfe was born.
Denise has been a longtime resident of Grimshaw, AB since 1979 where she raised her family and made numerous longtime friends.
She worked tirelessly and took great pride at being an AVON representative of the Peace Region from 1982 until her passing. She was also a volunteer at the elementary school in Grimshaw for many years.
She spent many memorable camping trips with friends and family. She enjoyed long walks but her most favorite thing to do was spend as much time with her family and visiting friends as possible. She attended every family function and was always the last one to leave.
Susan loved her family deeply, she had many nieces and nephews. She was a loving, understanding and compassionate wife, mother, daughter, sister aunty and friend. She was one of a kind to all that were blessed to be loved by her.
Susan is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband, Ross; daughter, Denise Findlay (Kelly) and son, Stephen Metcalfe. Siblings, Mary Riczu, Linda Pelchat (Arthur), Patricia Schultz (Ken), Maureen Diederich (Danny), Gerald Duffy (Sharon), Cameron Duffy (Diane) and Brian Duffy.
She was predeceased by her parents Virginia and Roy Duffy as well as sibling Sharon Ann Duffy, Cathy LaValley and Donald Roy Duffy.
Friends and family are invited to attend Susan’s memorial on Friday August 12, 2022 from the Grimshaw Legion at 1:00pm.
