Obituary
GARNETT, Susan Irene (née Maynard): It is with immense sadness that the Garnett Family announce the untimely death of Susan (Sue) Irene Garnett at Peterborough Regional Health Centre on Sunday, February 20, 2022 with her family by her side at the age of 71; a beloved daughter, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.
With her soulmate and best friend Jack Churchill by her side, they made a life together many years ago at White Lake in the Township of Douro-Dummer, Ontario. Although Jack was taken from this world suddenly many years ago, Sue was steadfast to carry on their legacy for “Life by the Lake” and continued to reside in their home at White Lake, affectionately known as “The Cottage”. They were loved by neighbours and friends who ultimately became their extended family. She will be dearly missed by everyone in the White Lake community.
Sue worked in healthcare and was tirelessly devoted to helping those in need, the majority of her working career spent at Fairhaven Long Term Care Home in Peterborough where she was very well-liked and respected. Sue was able to retire at an early age and spent her remaining years serving in the community in every way possible, a caring and selfless person who always made you feel special and part of her family no matter who you were.
Sue recently suffered from a kidney related illness that ultimately sent her to be with Jack once again. They are now at peace together and for that we are grateful, however, all our hearts are broken with the loss of such a great woman.
The Family would like to extend special note of appreciation to all the hard working nurses and health care associates at Peterborough Regional Heath Centre, Floor B6. Especially, the family would acknowledge the empathy and tenderness “Sarah” extended to the family in Sue’s final days and hours. She will be remembered by the family as an angel and they will never forget the extra effort and personal care she extended.
Sue is survived by her mother, Margaret Maynard, her sisters and children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Sue will be missed as well by her many nieces, nephews and cousins who adored her. Sue was deeply loved by all and she will live on forever in their hearts.
In keeping with Susan’s wishes there will be no service, cremation has taken place and she will rest at Little Lake Cemetery with Jack. In lieu of flowers and in her memory, donations to the Kidney Foundation of Canada would be appreciated by the Family. Online condolences may be expressed at www.highlandparkfuneralcentre.com
