Steve Lane 2022

How lucky am I to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard
A.A. Milne, author
Steve Lane
Faced with the prospect of another election, Steve Lane instead, decided to pass away at the age of 68 at London HSC on September 25, 2022. Steve was born and raised in Stratford. He leaves behind his beloved wife (also chef, housekeeper, and back scratcher) of 40 years Carrie Lane (Lee Tsaltas). A loving and very proud father of Erica (Shawn) Dean (Kim). His grandsons Carter, Nolan and Sully describe their Grandpa as kind, caring and generous. Dear brother of Pat Pilling (Mike) Gordon Lane (Kathie). Steve was a much-loved brother-in-law to Vicki Gatschene and Louise Lane. Son-in-law to Nick Tsaltas
Nieces Lisa Lane, Lesley Lane (Good John) Lindsay Lane (Rob) Michael Pilling (Seb) Allison Pilling (Matt) Sarah Boismier (Jesse) Laura Lane, Jennifer Horenberg (Dave) Nikki Smidts (Josh).
Predeceased by his parents Tom and Gladys Lane, brother Dave Lane, mother-in-law Lois Tsaltas and nephew Ben Lane.
Steve had an amazing sense of humour and enjoyed making people laugh.
Steve opened his own mechanical contracting business in 1998 (Dean Lane Contractors). He strived to provide the best for his family.
He enjoyed fishing trips with his staff and the boys as well as attending professional sporting events
Steve loved his family. He showed his love by taking his family on many adventures around the world and creating lasting memories. “We’re doin’ it!”
Steve became a member of the Mechanical Contractors Association of Ontario. He later became president of MCA Kitchener Waterloo. Steve was extremely fortunate to be a member of the association. Not only did it provide many new friends from all over Ontario but also several amazing conferences. We got to experience and visit so many incredible places that otherwise may have gone unseen.
Steve had a passion for football, loved his Dallas cowboys. You could always find Steve in his big comfy chair in front of the television on Sunday afternoons, pretty much any day he could be found there!
Steve loved going out for dinner and the experience of tasting different foods. Friday nights were set aside for date night with Carrie and Sunday nights were family dinners at his home with his kids and grandkids.
The backyard pool also provided a meeting spot for family get togethers.
Many thanks go out to all the staff at University Hospital in London CCU Floor 5 bed 1. They provided excellent care to both Steve and his family.
A private family interment will take place in Avondale Cemetery. A public celebration of Steve’s life will be held on Saturday October 1 from 12 pm – 2 pm at the Arden Park Hotel, 552 Ontario Street, Stratford. Donations can be made to the London Health Sciences Foundation Cardiac Care through the W. G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford. 519-271-7411 www.wgyoungfuneralhome.com
