STEPHEN VOPNI
OCTOBER 4, 1989 – MARCH 9, 2022
We are heartbroken beyond measure to announce the tragic and unexpected passing of our beloved son and brother, Stephen Warren Vopni, age 32 years, on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
Stephen was born October 4, 1989 in Thunder Bay, Ontario to Deborah and Ron Vopni. He was a happy baby who was always busy exploring and as a child he made friends easily with his outgoing personality. He loved playing sports, especially baseball and hockey as a child and had ambitions to coach as an adult. Stephen’s family meant everything to him and he always put them first. His daily “I love you, and you mean everything to me” meant the world to us. Stephen was a very loving person and an important part of our family.
Stephen graduated from Hammarskjold High School and continued on to Lakehead University where he earned his Honours Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Finance with a minor in Accounting and Political Science. Following his graduation, Stephen loved trading in the stock market and had a great understanding of it. He loved the excitement of researching and making trades. Stephen’s love for finance lead him to found an Investment Club at Lakehead University where he would pass along his knowledge to others.
Stephen’s passion for investing lead him to purchasing rental properties here in Thunder Bay. Stephen’s goal was to renovated these houses and provided a clean welcoming living experience to Confederation College and Lakehead University Students.
Left to mourn his immense loss are his parents, Deborah and Ron; brother Kevin (Chloe Sereda); grandmother, Ferne Vopni; aunts and uncles, Garry and Joan Vopni, Jim and Marg Vopni, Dean and Susan Warren and Darrell Warren; cousins, Christopher, Thomas, Michael, Erik, Andy, Laura, Gregory and Jesse and their families and our beloved family dog, Chubbz. He is also survived by numerous extended family and his many, many friends.
Predeceased by his grandparents Lloyd and Helen Warren and Canon Roy T. Vopni and our beloved family dog, Champ.
Stephen you are deeply missed and will always be in our hearts! We know you are with us in spirit. We love you endlessly!
Funeral Services for the late Mr. Stephen Vopni will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, March 26, 2022 in St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Ridgeway St, with the The Venerable Dr. Deborah H. Kraft officiating.
In lieu of flowers, Stephen’s family asks that donations be made in his name to Lakehead University with the intent to create a Bursary. Donations may be made online using donate.lakeheadu.ca or by phoning 807-343-8010 ext. 8194.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Everest Funeral Chapel, 299 Waverley Street at Algoma.
Gone from our lives, but never our hearts.
We love you Stephen.
Until we meet again.
